Merging contacts is a useful way to keep your contacts list clean and organized as well as provide a smooth investing process for your investors. This article will explain the step-by-step process of how to merge contacts correctly. Once the contacts have been merged, they will appear as one contact within your contacts list.

The following data are migrated from secondary contacts to primary contact when the merge is successful:

  • Opportunities

  • Investing Accounts

  • Active Investments

  • Tags

  • Teams

  • Co-Sponsors

  • Dwolla records (if primary and secondary contacts are both registered)

Before starting a contact merge, the follow must be true about the two or more accounts:

  • primary and secondary contacts belong to the same group

  • primary and secondary contacts must be both registered or both unregistered

  • secondary contact does not have multiple profiles

Steps to Merge Contacts:

  1. You'll navigate to your Contacts section

  2. Select two or more contacts to merge

  3. Select Actions and then Merge Contacts

  4. Choose the main contact for the merge. (This will be the account the investor's data will live in after the merge is complete.)

  5. Review the data of secondary contacts that will be merged with the main contact

  6. Congrats! You have successfully merged contacts
